What: 5 days of food-based fasting, or intermittent fasting... can you do it?
When: You will be sent all the materials and shopping list to start as soon as tomorrow!
Why: Fasting is an essential part of the autophagy process, or “neural junk removal.” Not only does this help you have clearer thinking and more mental energy, but this will greatly expedite other things like lower inflammation levels, higher metabolism, and maybe even some weight loss. Woo!

The 5-Day Food-Based Fast is a whole food fast created by us here at Simple Smart Science based on research done by Dr. Valter Longo at the USC Longevity Institute. This fast essentially mimics the effect of fasting without entirely eliminating food.
During these next 5 days, you will be following a carefully constructed meal plan, that will produce similar results to the fasting. We will be here to get you set-up for success.
When you are fasting, your body burns fat instead of sugar for energy. Typically, it takes a minimum of 10 to 16 hours of not eating before this metabolic shift occurs. When your body uses fat for energy, it releases fatty acids called ketones into the bloodstream.
Not only does fasting help you have clearer thinking and more mental energy, but this will greatly expedite other things like lower inflammation levels, higher metabolism, and maybe even some weight loss. Woo!
