The Most Powerful Memory Hormone You’ve Never Heard Of: Pregnenolone

Lately it seems as if there’s always some new hormone that we have to keep track of because if not the ground will open up and swallow us whole.

The problem is, that there are so many of them, with different names, and different functions. It’s exhausting and kind of scary trying to understand what they do and how our lifestyles may or may not impact their functions.

But what if I told you there was a master memory hormone that I bet you’ve never heard of before, and it’s a BIG deal. It’s sort of the Alpha and Omega-beginning and end of hormones.

When This One Is Balanced, Everything Else Falls Into Place.

I’m talking about Pregnenolone, and yes… the name is weird. Every time I hear it, I think of a pregnant ball of Provolone cheese…sorry, just the way my mind works, and now you too can have that image in your head! You’re welcome.

Seriously though, Pregnenolone is literally a building block hormone that goes into making other hormones.

Without this big daddy, there would be no DHEA, estrogen, progesterone, or cortisol (known as the stress hormone) etc.

What You Need To Know About Your Pregnenolone Levels

Pregnenolone is a steroidal hormone naturally produced in the body mainly by the adrenal gland, but also in the liver, skin, brain, testicles, ovaries, and retina of the eyes.

Pregnenolone is made from cholesterol and is the starter material in the production of testosterone, progesterone, cortisol, estrogen and other hormones.

Because the body uses it as a building material, to create other hormones, it is sometimes referred to as “precursor” or “pro-hormone”.

Once synthesized, pregnenolone is converted to DHEA or to progesterone.. Progesterone is used to make cortisol, aldosterone, androstenedione, estrogen, and testosterone…

These specific hormones are vital to so many aspects of our lives, it’s just incredible to think about.
  • Mineral balance
  • Blood pressure regulation
  • Sex hormone balance

What Happens If My Levels Are Off?

Let’s say that your cholesterol level is too low. Obviously then pregnenolone, the basic building block, can’t be made in sufficient amounts to create the other hormones that are necessary to our body.

Pregnenolone also enhances the activity of certain detoxifying enzymes, which help our cells remove poisons (especially from the liver and brain) both from our environment and our own bodies buildup within.

If we don’t have enough pregnenolone to help with the detoxifying process, then our memories decline.

How Does Pregnenolone Decline?

By the time you're 75, your pregnenolone levels can be 65% lower than a 35 year old.

Why is this?

Studies have shown that pregnenolone declines from a variety of factors, including age, stress, toxic environments and the biggest killer: inflammation.

Inflammation seriously knocks those levels off. When you're dealing with chronic inflammation in your body and brain, your immune system is compromised.

Maybe you’ve also already heard that the white cells that sneak into the walls of your arteries are major contributors to cardiovascular disease.

Perhaps you also know that cancer tends to form in areas that are chronically inflamed.

Hormone Imbalances

Any hormone imbalance can be felt by the body and not in a good way, but especially progesterone deficiencies can be at the bottom of sever PMS, infertility, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and host of other issues.

Symptoms of low progesterone include:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Irritability
  • Mood swings
  • Fatigue
  • Brain Fog
  • Migraines
  • Insomnia
  • Low sex drive
  • A poor memory
  • Menstruation that is either too few periods or too many

Root Causes of Memory Loss From Decreased Pregnenolone

Inflammation is supposed to happen for acute injuries. If you bang your knee, you’ll notice redness, pain, warmth and swelling in the area. That's an inflammatory response.

But once all the cells from the inflammatory response have done their job and the injury is healed, that inflammation disappears. That’s the kind of inflammation you want to happen.

But chronic inflammation is when your body gets confused and doesn't know when to stop with the inflammatory response.

And that's when you're pregnenolone takes a dive as well trying to fight off the stressors from that inflammation.

Since pregnenolone is your memory hormone, critical in the laying down of memories and recalling those memories later, inflammation accelerates the decline in your memory.

You Don't Have a Memory Problem, You Have an Inflammation Problem.

But it is fixable, and for good. I'm putting on a workshop this week, where I will show you exactly how this chronic inflammation is starting in your brain and then how to get rid of it for good.

Get the Recipe For A Healthy Brain And Strong Memory

You’ll get the recipe for a healthy brain and a strong memory.

But a recipe is more than a list of ingredients. It also tells you how to blend them all together to get the result you want.

This workshop will give you the individualized recipe you need to fight the inflammation in your brain.

And then you’ll learn how to activate stem cell growth in the memory sector of your brain – the hippocampus – to regrow some of those memory cells you’ve lost through age, disease, medications and lifestyle choices.
